Pécs did not win the European Capital of Culture title in 2010 by accident. Throughout the second half of the last century, the city cultivated a unique and often unconventional cultural life. It was the birthplace of Hungary's first modern ballet company, for years, it hosted the national film festival, which evolved into a platform for political debate, and it was the home of the journal Jelenkor, which gave voice to a new literary generation in the seventies. The list continues with neo-avant-garde fine arts (Pécs Workshop), theater (POSZT), and a flourishing music scene (Pannon Philharmonic, Kispál és a Borz, 30Y, Punnany Massif, Halott Pénz). As a result, Pécs transformed from a mining town into a city with a vibrant intellectual life: the City of Culture. This is the essence of Pécs.
For us, this cultural heritage is especially significant because software development is an integral part of the creative industry: a blend of technology and art. We inevitably work and create within this cultural space. It is up to us to consciously nurture this tradition, decide what to carry forward, and ensure it lives on through future generations.
When we redesigned our office, our primary goal was to share this location, with its stunning panoramic views and community-centric design, with the city's proactive groups who care deeply about cultural and social issues. In 2025, we took this a step further: we opened S6xth. This 112-square-meter space, equipped with modern audio and video technology, not only supports our team's daily work but also serves as a home for our own events and open collaborations.
