Comprehensive Digital Solution for a Market-Leading HVAC Wholesaler

Our client, Rotovill Zrt., is one of Hungary's market-leading wholesalers of household appliance parts and a dominant player in residential HVAC (Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning) technology. For over 30 years, the company has been building a B2B wholesale network, primarily serving resellers as well as household appliance, cooling, and air conditioning technicians.

The Challenge

 

Rotovill previously provided access to its products through a traditional webshop, but by 2023, mobile sales became a core market requirement. Major competitors had already possessed mobile solutions, and the existing webshop was difficult to use on mobile devices. This meant that technicians on the move were often unable to place orders when needed.

 

Tangible business consequences included:

  • Partners could only access a computer in the evening, causing order placements to bottleneck in the morning and evening windows.
  • This bottlenecking created congestion and risks during webshop usage.
  • There was a persistent danger of partners simply forgetting to place orders gathered throughout the day.

 

The upcoming mobile application was required to provide up-to-date data, reflecting the full product range, near real-time stock and pricing information.

 

Since the background Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system was not prepared for real-time transactions, meaning no classic API connection was available, connecting to the ERP was only possible through an XML-based interface designed for data synchronization. We had to find a solution to keep the queried data up to date and to efficiently serve the core functions and processes of the mobile application.

The Solution

 

In the middleware between the app and the ERP, we developed business and data synchronization logic that ensures the mobile app: köztes rétegben olyan üzleti és adatszinkronizációs működést alakítottunk ki, amely biztosítja, hogy a mobilapp:

  • remains fast,
  • works with sufficiently fresh data,
  • and does not place unnecessary load on the ERP or the interface.


Through the app, Rotovill partners can:

  • access the entire product range and near real-time stock/price information,
  • place and pay for orders, download invoices, and track order status via mobile,
  • directly access relevant documents such as manuals, catalogs, and PDFs,
  • use an error code finder to quickly identify HVAC unit malfunctions.


The error code finder function provides an immediate explanation for codes displayed by air conditioning units, a task that previously required searching through paper or PDF documentation, thereby significantly simplifying diagnostics.

We developed a modern mobile application for iOS and Android platforms that offers several critical functions:

The introduction of the mobile application has a measurable impact from both operational and business perspectives. From a business standpoint, the greatest value is that partners can place orders and access information throughout the day. Thanks to push notifications, Rotovill has also opened a new communication channel with its partners to provide news and updates. The mobile app represents not just the modernization of the shopping experience, but also the acceleration of certain workflows, which simplifies daily work.

The mobile application was completed in approximately 6 months, just before the 30th-anniversary partner meeting. Due to the tight deadline, the first version focused on the core functions necessary for on-site work, ordering, and information access. Since its launch, the system has been expanded with numerous functions built upon these stable foundations.

 

Overall, the application has modernized the shopping and service experience, strengthened the client's market position, and laid the groundwork for future growth.
